Write for Us

At The NALANDA, we are looking for contributors who want to move beyond the surface of legal reporting. We provide a space for rigorous, independent analysis of India’s constitutional landscape, and we invite you to be part of that effort.

We aren’t interested in generic commentary. We are looking for work that engages with the deeper structures of law, the complexities of judicial decision-making, and the evolution of our institutional culture. If you have an idea that bridges the gap between academic theory and the realities of the courtroom, we would like to hear from you.

Scope of Inquiry:

We encourage original contributions that advance the discourse within the following domains:

  • Legislative Watch: Critical examination of Bills, Acts, and legislative developments, with a focus on constitutional validity, intent, and long-term institutional consequences.
  • Judgment Under Lens: Analytical deconstruction of significant judicial pronouncements. Submissions must move beyond descriptive summaries to engage with the reasoning, doctrinal implications, and systemic gaps within the verdict.
  • Law & Politics: Analysis of political developments through a constitutional and institutional lens. We prioritize inquiries into executive and legislative strategy, avoiding partisan rhetoric in favour of structural observation.
  • Legal Philosophy: Essays exploring the theoretical foundations of law, aiming to ground abstract jurisprudential concepts in contemporary legal practice.
  • Law & Literature: Reflective explorations of the nexus between jurisprudence and narrative, examining how literary discourse shapes, challenges, or elucidates our understanding of justice and authority.

Editorial Expectations

We take our work seriously, and we expect you to do the same. Because our platform is defined by the quality of our reasoning, we prioritize originality and deep research.

If you are thinking of writing for us, keep a few things in mind:

  • Human First: We believe in the strength of human thought. While we recognize that modern tools are useful for research or formatting, we expect you to lead the writing. Transparency is essential—if you use technology to assist in your process, please be open about it. However, the intellectual heart of the piece must be yours.
  • Exclusivity: Please send us work that you haven’t published elsewhere. We invest significant time in our authors, and we look for the same level of commitment in return.
  • Accuracy: We hold our authors responsible for the integrity of their claims. Please double-check your facts and provide sources for the data you cite.
  • The Editorial Touch: We view editing as a partnership, not a correction process. We will work with you to ensure your piece is as sharp and clear as it can be. That said, our editorial team has the final word on what reaches our readers.

There are no deadlines for manuscripts, but if you are writing about a current event, please reach out to us as soon as possible so we can ensure the analysis stays timely.

When you send us your work, please include:

  1. Your manuscript (in Word format, please—we avoid PDFs for editing).
  2. A one-paragraph bio that tells our readers who you are and where you are coming from.
  3. A high-resolution photo of yourself.

If you don’t hear back from us within seven business days, please feel free to take your work to another publication. We receive a high volume of inquiries and appreciate your patience as we give each piece the consideration it deserves.
